1. Museum of Natural History
If your child’s a fan of animals, dinosaurs or space, then the French National Museum of Natural History is a perfect place for a family day out. Based in the Jardin des Plantes, the highlight, is the Grande Galerie de l’Evolution depicting a march of the animals. Add dinosaur skeletons, meteorites and crystals and you’ve got a definite hit with the kids.
2. Jardin d’acclimation
France’s first amusement park has so much to offer for kids including archery, mini-golf, a house of mirrors, a carousel, boats, a train, farm animals, pony rides and a puppet theatre – you can even ride a camel! Set over 49 acres you’ll keep the kids entertained all day and they’ll be asleep as soon as their head hits the pillow.

3. Eiffel Tower Carousel
Entice your children up the Eiffel Tower with the promise of a ride on the Carrousel de la Tour Eiffel afterwards. It’s beautiful and offers a selection of vehicles and horses to ride on, plus it makes a great photo opportunity! There are several carousels around Paris to try, including one in the Jardin du Luxembourg that dates back to 1879 .
4. Ménagerie du Jardin des plantes
A trip to the zoo always proves popular with kids and whilst you won’t see lions and elephants here, you will see a mix of rare animals, reptiles and birds. The zoological garden, one of the oldest in Europe, is set in the Jardin des Plantes and home to Orangutan, snow leopard and kangaroos and is perfect for an afternoon stroll with the kids.

5. Centre Pompidou
This huge centre of modern art is ideal for kids. Before you even step inside its doors there are a variety of street entertainers to bring smiles to little faces. When inside, there’s something for all ages including toddlers, who will love the vast amount of space they’re free to run around in. La Galerie des Enfants (The Children’s Gallery) is full of interactive exhibits. You can also ride the escalator up the outside tube on the building to the rooftop, which offers great views over the city.
6. Aquarium de Paris
If your trip to Paris is hampered by rain, take shelter in the city’s aquarium, just a short walk from the Eiffel Tower. It can prove expensive, but if you’ve got toddlers, under 3’s go free. Not only will they love the colourful tanks, but they can roll up their sleeves and get hands-on in the rock pool.
