The UK government introduced exit checks at all ports and airports in April 2015. These checks involve gathering identity information on every person leaving the country, at their point of departure, which then get passed on to UK Border Force.

How will this affect me?

If you are planning to travel to the continent via Eurotunnel from 1st April onwards you will need to supply Advance Passenger Information (API) for everyone in your party. In order to comply with this new legislation, and speed up your journey through Eurotunnel exit checks, you will need to provide API details before you travel.

What information do I need to supply?

You’ll need to provide the following Advance Passenger Information (API) for everyone travelling in your vehicle:

  • Name
  • Surname
  • Gender
  • Date of birth
  • Nationality
  • Document type
  • Document number
  • Issuing state
  • Expiry date

Ways to supply your API

Call Eurotunnel’s Contact Centre on 0330 1233207 quoting your Eurotunnel booking reference. One of their team will add the travel information to your booking.

For more information on ways to supply your API visit Eurotunnel’s Exit Check information page and for more on why exit checks are being introduced, visit Gov.UK: Exit checks on passengers leaving the UK.
